This little light of mine..

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your LIGHT so SHINE before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”  Matthew 5:14-16 One of my favorite songs to sing as a kid… “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…hide in under a bushel, NO,  I’m gonna let it shine… won’t let satan blow it out, I’m gonna let it shine… let it shine, let it shine, let it SHINE!!!!!!!!”   Yesterday, my preacher was preaching and this little quote he said stuck with me the whole day through. “Like a light bulb, we are to shine for Him… sometimes we may feel like a whole bucket of paint has been splattered on our bulb…but our light will still be visible through the splatter.” It made me think to myself, it doesn’t matter how dark and gray my circumstances may seem, there is still light to shine, because I have Christ in my heart. His light will always prevail no matter what the darkness may be. Darkness can NOT triumph over light. Even a small candle light can spray enough light to guide our path in the dark. Just like in […]

HIS TIMING

I will never forget where I was when I decided I wanted to become a Beautician. I was watching my mom get her hair washed at the beauty shop where my cousin L worked. It was a cute place on the square of my home town. I looked at them and said “I am going to work with you someday!” Guess what…. I did! After months of trying to persuade my parents that I truly wanted to go to hair school instead of going to college, I ended up having to give college a “TRY”….. Well, I tried it… for two weeks! Haha!! The whole two weeks was misery because I knew where my heart was! I cried the whole two weeks and finally my parents decided to let me go on to beauty school. I am thankful I tried college (even if only for two weeks) just so I don’t have any “What IFs”…. As a child, all my barbies had their hair brushed, braided, in pig tails, and you guessed it…. CUT!!! My hair was always in pig tails, which my Daddy would grab like handlebars and say “budd-en budd-en”(like the sound of a motorcycle)… I loved getting my hair done in different styles. A lot of nights, my Momma would roll my hair in rags. I would sleep in it and the next day I became “Shirley Temple”…. After finishing hair school, I soon realized that SOMEDAY….(LORD […]

Rainbow

Rain…  it’s always, “when is it ever going to stop” or “we sure could use some”….   As for this week, my yard (and heart) has had its fair share of rain. (Thank you Lord, you are..after all the best weather man!) We all go through struggles in life, whether it be health, relationships, finances, or just plain ol “woke up on the wrong side of the bed” mood. As I was at my Granny and Pa’s this week (one of my favorite places in the whole world to be!) I heard the rain start coming down on their “sky viewing window”.  I already was in one of those “grumpy/sad” moods due to my health that week and now was going to have to deal with driving in the RAIN (not my favorite thing to do)… As I was walking over to my Granny’s kitchen sink, (where so many dishes and even my hair has been washed by my loving Granny!) I glanced out the window that is above that sink and saw it. A RAINBOW! God’s beautiful promise. Bursting with color over my Pa’s cows that I always helped feed and look after with him…(if the tractor or four-wheeler was moving..hey you better bet this gal was going with her Pa)  I can not describe the JOY and happiness that washed over me when I saw that rainbow in the field with all them cows. I started shouting, “LOOK! […]

Buttercups…

As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.  Psalm 103:15-16  Any of my family or friends know how much I love flowers. Every Spring, I can not wait to see the first buttercup pop up…mainly because my Daddy has always brought my Momma and I buttercups in from the log woods as soon as they bloom…and since my Brother E saw Daddy […]

The Ultimate Valentine

February…. hearts, hearts, and more HEARTS!!! February is extra special to me… I celebrate my Anniversary, my Birthday, and of course Valentine’s Day. Every store is full of balloons, cards, teddy bears, chocolates, and my favorite… FLOWERS! It just makes my heart smile and puts a little skip in my step! I love going in and just looking at all the LOVE inspired things. But today, as I was in CVS browsing the candy aisle, it hit me. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth […]

Here we go….

Let me take you back to June 2017. As I lay wide awake, in a hospital bed, just desperately wanting to get just 5 minutes of sleep, all I kept thinking was… “Where are you Lord? I feel so alone and I have felt so alone for quite some time now.” (Physically, no I wasn’t alone… I had my family there supporting me) I finally spoke those words aloud “WHERE ARE YOU LORD?” I have never heard him more clearly in my life….. “I AM the APLHA and the OMEGA….. I will never leave you or forsake you no matter how far you run” I began bawling my eyes out, thanking him for reminding me that I am HIS and he is always there even when I can’t see it. My precious Savior spoke to me!  Me?  Little ‘ol me… Who has been sick for a long time and couldn’t ever find an answer. Who had been praying, praying, and kept PRAYING. I kept feeling like I was praying but My Heavenly Father wasn’t listening. My Heavenly Father was listening. He always bends down to listen even if we give him but a whisper. In the midst of the storm if we focus on him and not the storm around us, He is always there. BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD. He tells us to be STILL, but in all my waiting and unanswered prayers I was all over […]
