This little light of mine..

light of mine

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your LIGHT so SHINE before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”  Matthew 5:14-16

One of my favorite songs to sing as a kid… “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…hide in under a bushel, NO,  I’m gonna let it shine… won’t let satan blow it out, I’m gonna let it shine… let it shine, let it shine, let it SHINE!!!!!!!!”   Yesterday, my preacher was preaching and this little quote he said stuck with me the whole day through.

“Like a light bulb, we are to shine for Him… sometimes we may feel like a whole bucket of paint has been splattered on our bulb…but our light will still be visible through the splatter.”

It made me think to myself, it doesn’t matter how dark and gray my circumstances may seem, there is still light to shine, because I have Christ in my heart. His light will always prevail no matter what the darkness may be. Darkness can NOT triumph over light. Even a small candle light can spray enough light to guide our path in the dark.

Just like in the picture above, the clouds try to block out the Sun’s light, but still we see light beaming through the cloud or around the cloud. Like the stars or the moon, all giving out some light to make the night not seem so dark.

So wherever I am, whatever mood I am in.. I have a choice… a choice to spread some of God’s light in this dark world with all the sadness, trouble, and worries.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4

SOMEDAY… there shall be no more pain…Until then, LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE!!

THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE, I’M GONNA LET IT SHINE!
