Gideon And The Fleece… Ask, Seek, Keep Knocking!

For a couple of weeks I have been praying, earnestly seeking God to show me a sign like He gave Gideon twice (laying out the fleece)… (Judges 6:36-40 see these scriptures for Gideon) I needed reassurance that I should keep praying the same prayer I have been praying for a while now. I would like to share with you what has happened in the past week. Thursday morning, on my way to the doctors office, the radio was talking about Elijah praying for rain. “And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. This little light of mine..

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your LIGHT so SHINE before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”  Matthew 5:14-16 One of my favorite songs to sing as a kid… “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…hide in under a bushel, NO,  I’m gonna let it shine… won’t let satan blow it out, I’m gonna let it shine… let it shine, let it shine, let it SHINE!!!!!!!!”   Yesterday, my preacher was preaching and this little quote he said stuck with me the whole day through. “Like a light bulb, we are to shine for Him… sometimes we may feel like a whole bucket of paint has been splattered on our bulb…but our light will still be visible through the splatter.” It made me think to myself, it doesn’t matter how dark and gray my circumstances may seem, there is still light to shine, because I have Christ in my heart. His light will always prevail no matter what the darkness may be. Darkness can NOT triumph over light. Even a small candle light can spray enough light to guide our path in the dark.
