Gideon And The Fleece… Ask, Seek, Keep Knocking!

For a couple of weeks I have been praying, earnestly seeking God to show me a sign like He gave Gideon twice (laying out the fleece)… (Judges 6:36-40 see these scriptures for Gideon) I needed reassurance that I should keep praying the same prayer I have been praying for a while now. I would like to share with you what has happened in the past week.

Thursday morning, on my way to the doctors office, the radio was talking about Elijah praying for rain.
“And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not. And it came to pass in the meanwhile, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain.” 1 Kings 18:41-45

Thursday afternoon I had my nails done and I like to leave little cards I buy from the Christian bookstore that have scripture on them.
As I was thumbing through the cards, one caught my eye and I left it for the nail tech.
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8

Friday evening, minutes after, I prayed asking God for assurance to keep praying the same prayer… I turned on the radio, and guess what the sermon was about… Ask, Seek, and Knock, keep on knocking, not only did the preacher quote that exact verse, He went on to quote yet another scripture. Can you guess which one it might be?. Yep!, Elijah praying for rain, sending his servant to look 7 times and a little cloud appeared. I could hardly believe my ears! I had just expressed I needed assurance and earlier in the week I expressed the fact I just didn’t understand why Gideon received two signs with the fleece and I can’t hear God telling me anything. The preacher also started talking about the woman in Matthew 15:21-30, “O, woman, great is thy faith.” The whole sermon was about being persistent in your prayers. Ask Him, Seek Him, Keep on Knocking! The preacher tied all these scriptures together with this scripture, “And He left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.” Matthew 26:44 Praying the same words for a third time!!!

Two days, same two verses, thank you Lord! Just like Gideon, I have received TWO signs of assurance! But hey, when God wants to be heard, He wants to be heard. So lets get to Saturday morning… I woke up, got in my car to head to town for breakfast, a few minutes down the road and I can hardly believe my ears yet again! The preacher is quoting the scripture of… Elijah and the little cloud! Three days in a row the same scriptures!

Sunday morning, my Sunday school teacher is reading from Matthew 8 and I glance over to the left and see Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, seek and knock.

Four days in a row I was blessed with the same two verses from the Lord. But, it doesn’t stop there. On Monday morning I had changed my radio station from a Christian station to a country station. Why, is beyond me.  Monday night, my Mom called needing me to bring her something, at first I expressed to her she would just have to come get it, then I said, “no, I will just bring it to you.” (After four days of being reassured, I am still praying that God reassures me that I am praying for what His will is.) I get in the car to take my Mom what she needs and think to myself, “Why did I turn it to country, I’m turning it back to my Christian station I always listen to.”  The moment I did, the lady is discussing the exact issue in her life I am going through and God answered her prayer. I immediately had tears running down my face and say, “I hear you Lord!”

Lord, I praise you for not only reassuring me once, but five days in a row.  I thank You so much for You never leaving or forsaking me.  Thank you for showing me a sign just like You did Gideon but in a different way that was just for me.  Help me to remember to wait upon You Lord and that You are my strength.

Praise the Lord for His word! Praise Him for reassurance!

PRAY BOLDLY!
PRAY BELIEVING!
PRAISE GOD!
