February…. hearts, hearts, and more HEARTS!!!

February is extra special to me… I celebrate my Anniversary, my Birthday, and of course Valentine’s Day. Every store is full of balloons, cards, teddy bears, chocolates, and my favorite… FLOWERS! It just makes my heart smile and puts a little skip in my step! I love going in and just looking at all the LOVE inspired things. But today, as I was in CVS browsing the candy aisle, it hit me.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth, nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your HEART will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21

Flowers, teddy bears, cards, chocolates, and balloons….all are just stuff. Flowers wither, balloons go flat, cards and teddy bears end up collecting dust, and lets face it, the chocolate is good to eat but once its gone, its gone. Temporary Joy… I realized WHO and WHAT Valentine’s day should really be about.

 I want JOY and LOVE that LAST FOREVER. 

He hung on a cross for you and me. With out stretched hands, blood dripping to the ground, taking his last breath… I can hear him whisper….

“I LOVE YOU THIS MUCH!”

No matter how many times we turn away from him, no matter how far we run, no matter how many times we say, “not today Lord.” He is still there LOVING YOU! Forgiving you, showing you GRACE upon GRACE because He LOVES you!

Today, Valentine’s day, I’m going to focus on HIM and sharing his love with others. After all, HIS love can not ever compare to any earthly love. As much as your loved ones love you, times that by a million and infinity.. Wow, as I typed that I can not fathom how much MY SAVIOR must love me because I know my parents and grandparents LOVE me to the moon and back, unconditionally. But MY SAVIOR loves me MORE!
